Traveling by plane

Option 1: Fly into the small airport in Santa Fe via American Airlines or United Airlines. Schedules are fairly limited.

Option 2: Fly to the Albuquerque Sunport and either:

  1. Rent a car, or

  2. Take the train. (You will need to Uber to the railway station from the airport.)

The drive is one hour and the rail is about an hour and a half. Either way, you’ll enjoy the scenic journey north.

Getting around

Santa Fe is a very walkable city, particularly if you elect to stay near downtown.

Uber is widely available, although there can be slightly longer wait times and it is a bit more expensive than in larger cities.

If you choose a rental car, it can be difficult to navigate the curvy historic burro-trails-turned-streets, but Google leads the blind just fine.

There are several great day-trip attractions nearby: Chimayó, Abiquiu, and Ojo Caliente.

Where to stay

Las Palomas

460 W San Francisco Street
Santa Fe, New Mexico 87501

Phone: 855.982.5560

My favorite hotel in Santa Fe. More of an apartment feel. Many of the rooms have wood burning fireplaces and the hotel provides wood. The rooms are spread out between three different compounds. Walking distance to Railyards and the Plaza. Hot breakfast is included.

A gem of Santa Fe, now owned by Marriott for those using or collecting points. The main building is said to be haunted. Amazing dark and historic bar. Most accommodations are casita-like with kiva fireplaces. Very near the Cathedral on the Plaza.
